Job Description Summary:

Krystal Biotech, Inc is seeking a highly motivated Histology Technician to join our dynamic R&D team in the lab.  The ideal candidate will have a robust background in histology, a thorough understanding of laboratory procedures, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of laboratory safety and quality.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Efficiently process tissue specimens for paraffin embedding and sectioning, ensuring optimal embedding of a variety of tissues, preservation and quality for sample analysis.
  • Operate and maintain histology equipment such as microtomes, tissue processors, embedding stations, and imaging stations.
  • Prepare sections for staining and perform routine and specialized staining techniques as required by research protocols.
  • Maintain accurate records of specimens processed, embedding details and sectioning parameters, and tissue/sections storing/organizations as per standard operating procedures.
  • Work closely with other lab personnel to understand project needs and provide technical support.
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory safety protocols and general SOP’s.
  • Manage inventory of histology supplies and reagents and order new supplies as necessary.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of new laboratory procedures and techniques.
  • Experience with confocal microscopy is a plus.
Experience and Skills Desired:
  • Bachelor’s degree in life sciences is preferred, or equivalent combination of education and professional laboratory experience.
  • 1-2+ years of laboratory work focused on histology, with recent experience involving paraffin embedding and tissue sectioning.
  • Proficiency in using histological equipment and conducting various staining methods.
  • Experience in cryosections (using cryotome) would be a plus as well.
  • Having experience in basic protocols for: IHC (immunohistochemistry) and/or IF (immunofluorescence) would be helpful. 
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, capable of working effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues within the laboratory.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced and changing environment with an ability to prioritize activities appropriately.
