Job Description Summary:

Krystal Biotech is seeking a highly motivated Technical Accounting Manager to join a dynamic accounting team. The Technical Accounting Manager will be heavily involved in the SEC reporting process, including timely preparation of quarterly and annual SEC filings (Forms 10-Q and 10-K), assisting with Form 8-K and proxy filings, earnings releases, and SOX compliance. This position will support the audit and quarterly reviews, assist in technical accounting documentation as needed, manage all aspects of our stock-based compensation process, and assist with the monthly close.  This role requires someone who thrives and enjoys working in a fast-paced, complex environment to support our continued growth and the expansion of our team.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Draft financial reporting materials, including SEC filings and earnings releases
  • Prepare and maintain all supporting documentation for SEC filings (Form 10-Q, Form 10-K and other ad hoc forms as needed)
  • Prepare technical accounting memos
  • Provide schedules and support for internal monthly financial statements and reporting packages
  • Manage all aspects of stock-based compensation expense reporting
  • Utilize our stock administration platform to ensure integrity and accuracy of information and transactions within platform for all domestic and global equity grants.
  • Review equity compensation plan data, including equity grants, option exercises, and restricted stock awards to ensure transactions are recorded timely and accurately.
  • Partner with the Payroll and Legal teams on timely and accurate grant documentation, including review of Form 4 filings, as necessary.
  • Preparation of equity compensation expense reporting, including monthly, quarterly, and yearly reporting on fair value calculations, 10-Q/K disclosure reporting, and proxy disclosure
  • Preparation of equity-related journal entries and month-end account reconciliations.
  • Support the external audit/reviews process for related SEC filings and provide audit support as requested by internal and external auditors.
  • Investigate technical accounting issues related to stock compensation and determine impact on disclosures under U.S. GAAP
  • Participate in the potential selection and implementation of stock administration platform
  • Maintain SOX compliance processes related to equity and financial reporting as it relates to SEC filings
  • Ad-hoc reporting as needed; provides regular updates to team members and leadership; organizes and leads interdepartmental project teams

Requirements & Desired Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting/Finance
  • 6+ years of progressive experience in accounting/finance roles
  • Demonstrated knowledge of SEC reporting
  • Prior involvement with stock-based compensation programs and subsequent reporting
  • Significant knowledge in GAAP, SEC / Quarterly filings, and SOX concepts
  • Excellent verbal and written presentation skills
  • Ability to communicate with employees and stakeholders at all levels 
  • Strong ability to influence and drive initiatives/processes
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Dynamics 365 ERP
  • Experience using Workiva
